Midwest Quad Conference
The AIAS is composed of chapters located in four regions: Northeast, South, Midwest, and West. We call these our "Quads". Every Fall and Spring, a chapter from each quad hosts a regional conference at their school. Each one is a little bit different with it's own identity and theme. It is a great way to meet students and AIAS members within the Midwest colleges/chapters. This fall, Bowling Green University is hosting "Revitalize" for the midwest quad conference virtually October 23rd - 25th.
What is Revitalize?
With the reduction of industrialization comes an opportunity for architectural revitalization. With a focus on restoring and re-purposing historical projects, the future of architecture in our region can begin to be re-imagined through the past. The goal of this theme is to educate students on the ways in which architecture can become the solution to declining urban communities, and how we can collectively make a difference in these communities, and in the built environment.
The solution to “Rust Belt” issues is architecture. Through design, knowledge on the environment, and an understanding of civic issues architecture can Revitalize the Midwest and create vibrant communities once again!
